Otaki Gorge Trip

Otaki Gorge Trip

On the 25th of September half of MNL went on a school trip with the half of the other classes We were going to the gorge because we were going to do some activities with the older kids.

I woke up ready to go to school. I was really excited to go to the gorge and I hoped to be we my friends. I got to school and waited to the school bell went and we all went to the hall. We sat and talked as the teachers got ready. Megan started to call out the groups but I didn't feel too anxious about since Niko my best friend already knew the groups and I was with him.

We got into the car with Oliver me and Niko. Oliver is new to the school and now he is my best friend.

We got to the gorge and got out of the car. Heaps of kids were already gathered round as we pulled up. We sat there for a bit till the rest of the people got there. When the rest of the people had gotten there we got into our groups and headed off.

The first activity was fire making. We managed to make a fire and roasted marsh mellows on top. We were the only group that managed to keep our fire going.

The next activity was shelter making. We got to use two tarps and string. We all went to a tree and tied the tarp onto the tree so it made a roof, then we did the same further down. Ours won since we were put into two groups to see who could do better. We got lollies for winning.

The last activity was making mini rafts. Niko's mum and Jesse (one of the other adults) helped us. Sadly we still didn't win.

Overall I really liked the trip.
