School Trip To El Rancho

On the 10th of September my class and two others came on a trip to El Rancho. Otaki College had won a trip to El Rancho for one day. I was thrilled to hear we were going to go to El Rancho but I was a little bit anxious as well because I didn't know if I would be with my friends since we were going to be put in groups.

We were waiting in the hall till Megan Nelson Latu/My Teacher spoke up she started reading out the groups and me and my friends crossed our fingers. At the fourth group my name Nicky's name and Niko's name were called out me and my friends were so happy because we were in the same group.

We hopped in the car with Niko's mum and drove off. We were the first to go since Megan said that it was alright since we had everything and everyone we needed. In the car we were giggling and talking. I was in the middle seat in the back of the car with Niko and Nicky beside me. We passed round the lollies and started to eat. we started to get a sugar rush and we went crazy. We started singing to babe babe babe ohhhh yah and it was hilarious.

We were now at El Rancho finally and we hopped out of the car and went straight to the playground and hopped on the tramps. There was a little goat that head butted Niko in the leg. No one else was there apart from us and so we just played until they came.

Our first activity was kayaking I loved it and we had lots of fun. Although it took and bit getting our canoes into a human raft it still was pretty funny. When we had finally got all of our canoes together each one of us(it was optional) got to stand up and say our names and say what animal started with the same letter as the start of our name. The skills for kayaking were coordination and trust for when we did the human raft.

When it was my turn I accidentally hit the pine cone which was on top of the target which was pretty good. After everyone had finished their turn we got organised into two groups. Who ever got the most points by hitting the target the ball of the pine cones would get points. Our team technically one but since the adult helpers got a turn the other team won. The skills that we had to use for this one was patience, aim and strength.

The last activity was an escape room, We were in an old chapel where we had to find clues to find the key to escape. This last activity would never have worked if we didn't work together other wise we would've lost. Honestly I wasn't that helpful on the last one though.

Overall the trip to El Rancho was great and I loved it. Thanks El Rancho!
